How awesome it truly is to see someone get baptized! I had the opportunity to speak to Dennis just before he was dunked and he was nervous, which told me he cared and was sincere.
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Christ and a visual symbol of your union with Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. 1 Peter 3:21 describes it as a pledge of a good conscience toward God. I'll leave the debates about methods and practice and all the theological implications to those more educated than myself, but what I saw on Sunday, May 17 was a man with a sincere faith, declaring that faith publicly with a good conscience toward God.
