A Great Quote

God receives none but those who are forsaken, restores health to none but those who are sick, gives sight to none but the blind, and life to none but the dead.

He does not give saintliness to any but sinners, nor wisdom to any but fools. In short: He has mercy on none but the wretched and gives grace to none but those who are in disgrace.

Therefore no arrogant saint, or just or wise man can be material for God, neither can he do the work of God, but he remains confined within his own work and… Continue

A letter to my nephew and his new bride

1 Cor. 13 – I'm sure there have been scholars, preachers and saints all through the years who have explained this passage with great detail and flair. They've probably explained the meaning by studying the original greek language and examining it in the light of the rest of the letter, but I'm not a scholar, or preach and only qualify as a saint because the Word of God declares it so. I'm not intentionally trying to be original or clever, but as I studied the scripture this weekend in preparatio… Continue

Uriah the Hittite

Uriah shows up in one of the stories of King David in the bible, specifically 2 Samuel 11. King David has an affair with the man's wife and then sets up Uriah to die in battle. I'm sure in most cultures during that time kings would not think a thing about it and most wouldn't worry about devising a plan to have him him killed, but David was 'a man after God's own heart' as the scriptures tell us. David wanted all of this to happen in secret. He didn't want anyone else to know that he was an adul… Continue

A Big Thank You For Our Missions Team and For All Who Worked This Weekend

Missions Team, Kitchen Team, Musicians, Cleanup,
I just wanted to tell all of you that I am so proud of all you’ve done this weekend. You all worked so very hard and did such a good job of presenting the ‘story’ of missions. I know the Missions Team will be meeting to discuss what you might do differently next year, and I’m sure that’s needed, but don’t second guess the impact you’ve had on lives by what you’ve done this week. You never know what God is going to do with someone and how much it c… Continue

The September Elder’s Meeting

The elders met last night, even though it was a Tuesday night and we’re always scheduled for the 1st Monday night of the month. See what you get when you have a new pastor? Your schedule is rearranged and your life is totally out of whack for a day or two! Actually, I’m not sure it was David who did the rearranging, but, of course, we didn’t mind. We actually enjoy our meetings and don’t look forward to them with dread or apprehension. We all get along so well and David fit right in very quickly… Continue

Posted a few pictures of the band today if you want to share them. Thanks for bringing it back old school. I love most of the music at NL. But you guys were what brought Magie and I back to New life. Thanks to you and the old farts for allowing me a great worship experience.

Thanks Jeff, well said and thought out. Time+obedience=maturity. The only way to learn is to obey, do what God says each step of the way. None of us have maturity dropped into our laps but some do learn more quickly than others. I can clearly see t…
