While listening to the current series Pastor David has been preaching it reminded of a theme I saw emerge from the book of Ephesians: Calling.

From the very first opening verse Paul identifies himself with what God has called him to be:

“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God..”

Then he proceeds:
“..For He chose us... to be holy and blameless in His sight..”(vs.4)
“..In Him we were also chosen..(in order that)we might be for the praise of His glory..”(vss.11,12)

I've often wondered exactly what Jesus meant in the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5:38 when he told us to turn the other cheek when someone strikes you. I don't think the idea is that we become a door mat for everyone who wants to take advantage of us, but perhaps that we become so strong that the attacks from those who oppose us won't bother us or subtract from our absolute joy and confidence that even the gates of hell will not prevail against us (matt 16:18) or what they mean for evil, God m… Continue

While cleaning up my computer the other day, I came across some footage I shot while hanging around the “Dudes” at Dude Share the Food from more than a year ago. Due to lack of time, lack of footage and very poor audio I never really did anything with this footage, but I still found Eric's insights to be very inspiring (as well as his ability to talk using both while driving down I-20).

I was coming to the end of the Gospel of John the other morning and came across (once again) the strange conversation between Jesus and Peter (John 21:15-19). To paraphrase, Jesus asks Peter three times, "Do you love me more than these?"...the question everyone seems to want to ask is: what are the 'these' that Jesus was referring to?
