2009 Missions Celebration

This weekend New Life Christian Church welcomed a wonderful group of people to Douglasville Georgia. They all bear the title of 'missionary' whether they work here in the states or around the world. But, they all have one thing in common, the desire and passion to see others come to know the Lord Jesus as they know Him, and then to teach them to follow Him and know Him better. We welcomed them on Saturday evening for a meal and a time of fellowship, renewing past friendships and getting to know them and their work a little better.

Then on Sunday we welcomed Pastor Huggins, a personal friend of Pastor David and a missionary himself to share with the church and the missionaries. He spoke on the use of the hand in scripture and the importance that God puts on it and it's uses in the bible. He also prayed for the missionaries and their work and was a blessing for all of us.

We were then fed a wonderful meal and heard from the each of the missionaries getting an update on their work over the last year and what they have planned for the next.

Liz Seese, with “A Voice In The Wilderness” spoke of their work in Haiti, feeding and educating the children there, as well and providing clothes and medicine.

Kenny Cash, with “Uplift Ministries” shared of his work in the projects of Atlanta sharing the gospel and mentoring young men who desperately need a strong Christian male role model.

Michael Hines, with “International Christian Embassy Jerusalem” talked of their work in Israel, serving the Israelis there. He talked of recent work with refugees as well as their continuing work with the jewish people.

Martina Wilson whose mom overseas “Eternal Church of Christ Ministries” in Liberia shared about their work there. We have a part in a feeding program there, as well as building a church building and helping to support some of the local pastors. She also challenged the church to get their passports ready to visit next year.

Jim Richter, who is with “Team Expansion” shared his testimony and his duties as global security director in that organization. He will be leaving soon to travel the world sharing with missionaries who work in dangerous areas and helping them prepare themselves for anything that may arise.

Keith Haywood of Operation Mobilization talked about the need for missions in the world and how so few churches have such an emphasis on missions that we do.

The missions team did a wonderful job of planning and directing the conference (celebration). Tiffany did wonders in the kitchen again with her team members and a great number of people stayed after to help clean up. Please take the time to thank them yourselves.

God has a heart and desire to let Himself be known to all men. He has called us to be His hands and feet, and His voice to those who have no witness. New Life is blessed to be a part of that work and we hope to not only continue with where we are now, but to expand our presence and influence as God gives us increase.

From a pastor in the Austell area: Richard Hemphill received this letter from a missionary in India.

From Paul Malayadi one of our Missionaries in India.

On December 17 my wife received a threatening registered letter to kill me (Paul Malayadi) if they find me anywhere. The letter stated to cut my hands and legs and destroy my family completely. I was on the mission field when the letter arrived. My wife is disturbed, but god is with us. Pray for the matter.
